Better Breathers Clubs, Pulmonary Support Groups and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs
Support groups and pulmonary rehab programs offer educational and social opportunities for adults with lung disease. Support groups provide on-going education and current updates to the attendees who share their experiences, knowledge, ideas and strengths to improve the quality of each others lives. Meetings include expert speakers, video presentations or roundtable discussions. Afterwards, members mingle and socialize over refreshments. Typically the clubs meet monthly or bi-monthly. Pulmonary rehab programs have both education and monitored exercise components.
Who Should Attend
Adults who suffer from asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer and other respiratory problems attend the meetings. Many members bring their spouse, other family members and caregivers to attend.
How To Join
There are typically no dues or fees for a support group, referrals or reservations are not required. Pulmonary rehab programs do have a fee structure and require a referral but details vary with each individual program.
